How to Get your Business and Content Found in the World of AI.
The digital landscape is changing fast. With artificial intelligence shaping how people search, discover, and engage with brands, it’s never been more important to ensure your business and content stand out online.
Over the last two months alone, I’ve had three clients tell me they found me and my website via ChatGPT or Google AI search. So, here’s what I’m seeing work - and what I recommend for founders and creative brands who want to be found by the right clients in a world of algorithms and automation.
Focus on Traditional SEO
AI platforms like ChatGPT and GoogleAI aren’t doing their own searches, they’re simply getting their information from other search engines like Google and Bing. So, we need to make sure that your traditional SEO is in excellent shape so that you’re getting found via search engines first! AI search (and even social platforms) are now getting smarter at retrieving content that’s genuinely helpful, too.
So, this means -
Make sure your website is fast, accessible and responsive (these three are super important!)
Make sure your headings are structured properly with only one H1 tag per page.
Make sure your copy is optimised and you’re using your keywords naturally
Make sure each (relevant) page of your site has an SEO title and description.
Make sure your images are named and come with ALT tags.
Write fresh, human-written content and update your site regularly via a blog or portfolio.
Get backlinks from others sites in your industry (think guest posts, blogs etc).
Make your site easy to navigate and well structured (so that both humans and AI can find your content!).
Focus on Authority, not just Visibility
It’s tempting to chase trends and try to be everywhere at once, but the brands that rise above the noise are those that demonstrate clear expertise.
With AI changing the way we search and providing instant summaries, it’s not so much about getting people to click on your blog post anymore, but to become one of the sources that AI links to!
So share your unique processes, behind-the-scenes insights, and real project results. Authority doesn’t mean shouting the loudest; it’s about showing you know your craft inside-out.
Collaborations, podcasts, awards and guest blogs are all great ways to help boost your authority online.
Ask AI what it’s Looking For
Yup, you read that right. This is a trick I picked up from Henry from SEO Space’s presentation at the most recent Squarespace circle day, and it blew my mind when he first said it as to how obvious of a technique it becomes when you think about it more!
If we want to make sure that our content and websites are optimised for AI search, why not just ask AI what it’s looking for?!
So, head to ChatGPT (or your chosen AI platform) and ask it -
“What do you look for when recommending a [insert your craft here]?”
…and see what it says.
For me, as a designer, it wanted to see a strong portfolio, good client reviews, technical skills and communication.
Once you’ve got a list of the things AI is looking for in your industry, you can then use this as a checklist to update your own website.
Ask AI what it Already Knows About Your Business
Finally, I want you to go back and ask ChatGPT / Gemini / Your AI platform of choice, what it already knows about your brand or business. This was another tip from Henry at SEO Space and it’s SUCH a good one for auditing your visibility and what AI already knows about you.
Ask a simple question such as “tell me about Studio Zosia”, and you’ll see by it’s response what you’re already doing well, or you might notice some gaps that will tell you what you need to focus on going forward.
Also take note at where it’s getting it’s responses and information from - where are you already showing up online? Is it where you want to be showing up? Is the information that’s showing up how you want your brand to be presented?
Some of the most common places AI will pull it’s information from will be
Your Google Business Profile (if you don’t already have one, I’d highly recommend setting one up!)
Industry Business Directories
Social Media
As with everything in the current world of AI, traditional SEO and digital strategy isn’t dead, it’s just evolving. So, if you’re looking to evolve with it and want to make sure your business is showing up in AI search as well as search engines, try following these tips and see how you get on!
with love,
